Master of Textile Degree Program
The College of Textiles offers a Master of Textiles that is a non-thesis degree. This degree is of particular value to those who have some professional experience between the time they received their undergraduate degree and the time they enter the graduate degree program or who have specific career goals in the textile industry. The two-semester residency usually required of all master’s students has been waived for students completing this degree via TOP. While it is possible to satisfy portions of the Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees, only the Master of Textiles degree can be earned without taking any courses on the campus of North Carolina State University.
The minimum requirement for a Master of Science degree (Option B) is the satisfactory completion of 33-MS course work hours in Polymer & Color Chemistry. There is no thesis or foreign language requirement, although a final comprehensive oral examination is required. A student must develop a Plan of Graduate Work under the direction of his/her PCC faculty advisor.
