If the class you want is full, you can try to add yourself to the waiting list for the class. You need to consider that the smaller the class, the less of a chance you have of getting in the class from the waiting list. You would need to continue to check your schedule to see if you make it into the class.
Many classes have restrictions, but the restrictions often allow you, as a new student, to add the class. Try to add the class and see if you are allowed to do so.
