You are to prepare one copy of this portfolio in a file folder the typical tan colored file folder. This will remain with you until you graduate and you are expected to bring this folder to each advising session when you meet to discuss your progress toward graduation.
- On the tab of the file folder, neatly print your full name and social security number.
- On the outside of the folder, neatly print the words, ACADEMIC PORTFOLIO and the name and ADA code of the degree you are currently pursuing under these two words. Be as specific as possible with the title of your degree, for example, Textile Management, Apparel Concentration. Include the ADA code beside the name of the degree, ex. 08TXM991A, 08TT991, 08TC946P, etc. This code is important in identifying the requirements for your graduation. ADA stands for Automated Degree Audit which shows you exactly how the courses you have taken fit the degree you are pursuing. You can check yours on the Registration and Records Home Page under the Pack Tracks Link. Look for the Degree Audit.
- You are then to prepare your best effort at your Graduation Plan. This is a semester-by-semester listing of the courses you plan to take. You can use as a guide the "model" 4-year plan prepared for you by the College of Textiles that is part of your curriculum guide. You can access these semester-by-semester listings at the Academic Curriculum Home Page.
Preparation of the Graduation Plan
The plan is to be prepared on
a word processor as follows:
-
Page 1 Put the title and ADA code of the degree you are planning to complete.
Include a copy of a printout of your most current Degree Audit from on line from the Pack Tracks Link. You should update this at the end of each semester.
-
Page 2 and following until you have completed your task.
Now prepare the remaining semesters showing the following information for each semester. Label each semester as to Fall or Spring and show the intended year. PLEASE use the model 4 year plan that is part of your curriculum guide to help you with this.
For each semester provide
- the courses you are planning to take including the abbreviation, course number, and title.
- provide the prerequisites for every course you plan to take IF there are any. Prerequisites include both courses you must take first, ex. MA 131 must be taken before MA 231, AS WELL AS the grade you must make in the prerequisite course. Place these prerequisites beside the course name. Check the on-line Course Catalog to see what prerequisites each course has.
Check the NC State Course Catalog
- Wherever you have Humanities and Social Sciences as an entry on your "model" 4 year plan provided by the College of Textiles, you MUST select specific courses. You MUST read your curriculum guide and be sure that you meet each requirement in this area of courses. You can read about the different courses in these areas at the same web site as given in item b above. Also, you MUST place an * beside at least one of these courses to show which one you have selected to meet the non-English speaking culture requirement. BE SURE you have met each different requirement as spelled out by your degree for these courses.
- For all textile degrees, whenever you encounter any kind of "textile elective" on the 4 year plan provided with your curriculum guide, you and your permanent advisor will discuss these and make these decisions later.
- If you plan to go to summer school, provide this information as part of this Graduation Plan.
To check and see what courses transfer from other colleges and universities including community colleges, Check the NC State Course Equivalency Page.
