Process Engineer

Purpose

Provides technical support to Florence operations to improve rate of operation, quality, safety, and cycle time for standard and experimental products.  Reduces variation in KC products, supports development trials, and pursues other KC requirements.  Leads the effort to develop the highest level of weaving and seaming technology.  Understands KC’s applications and ensures the products fulfill those needs.

 

Specific Responsibilities

Scouts technology within VF and textile industry at large to improve quality and productivity at Florence.  Works with equipment suppliers to improve results in warping, weaving, finishing, and seaming.  Designs and executes trials to reduce sources of variation.  Assists in new fabric design process by providing pre-trial and real time input on potential manufacturability issues.  Improve systems to reduce cycle time for weaving and seaming trials through reduced set-up time and prediction models. Reviews technical concepts of major projects and provides equipment specifications.  Personally involved in solving difficult technical problems.  Responsible for maintaining process standards and training hourly personnel in their use.

 

 

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Textiles or related engineering fields required.  Advanced degree preferable, but not required.  Must have good interpersonal skills and a desire to work in a team environment.  Proven problem solving skills are a must.  Fluency in English required.

TEXTILE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING MANAGER

 

As a Product Development Manager, you will:

Create the direction for development of all textile-related products in a fashion focused, product development oriented organization. Identify opportunities for development of new products and design improvements for existing products. Insure the quality, cost, and speedy release to market of all new products. Work with the development team to establish a product plan for the company to accomplish development goals based on market trends. Manage and develop a team of experienced, highly technical product development engineers. Work with our current vendor base to develop new fabrics for use with new or existing products. Work with sourcing to qualify new fabric vendors.

 

We are looking for someone who has:

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. A proven track record of managing and leading a group of high-level engineers.

8-10 years of experience within the textile industry.  Experience in product development as well as textile manufacturing and processing is highly recommended. A working knowledge of all textile processes including fabric formation (wovens, non-wovens, knits, etc) as well as fabric preparation and finishing. A working knowledge of yarn and fiber types including natural and manmade fibers. Experience with hardware and mechanical components. Experience in establishing and maintaining material

and product specifications.

Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Experience with 6 Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Lean Design.

Educational Requirements:

Degree in Textile Engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Technology is highly recommended.  MS in Engineering, MBA or equivalent is preferred.

 

EXTRUSION DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

 

As an Extrusion Development Engineer, you will:

Identify opportunities for development of new products and design improvements for existing products. Insure the quality, cost, and speedy release to market of new products. Work with our current vendor base to develop new extrusions for use with new or existing products. Work with sourcing to qualify new extrusion vendors.

Fabric & Trim Coordinator – Core Line     

The primary responsibility of this position is to create and maintain Carhartt’s fabric library while assisting the Product Design/Demand Generation team in conducting fabric (area) tests and projects; lab dip processes; lab dip processes; and maintenance/creation of care labels.

Qualified candidates will possess a college degree in clothing and/or textile or related discipline (preferred). A minimum of 1-year experience in textiles (preferred). The ability to work in a team environment, and strong computer skills preferred.  Experience with PDM, Word, Excel and CAD helpful. Strong attention to detail, well-developed written and oral communication skills required.

 

Fabric & Trim Developer – Core Line

The primary responsibility for this position is the research and analysis for new product and for improvements to existing products in order to meet premium positioning.  Develop, maintain, and coordinate test fabric, trim specifications, and care labels.  Manages all aspects of the lab dip process.

Qualified candidates will possess a college degree in clothing and/or textile or related discipline; a minimum of 2 years experience in textiles; and knowledge of laboratory procedures and physical performance of fabric and trim. Ability to work in a team environment is essential. Strong computer skills, and experience with PDM, Word, Excel and CAD helpful. Strong attention to detail and the ability to problem solve. Well-developed written and oral communication skills essential.  Some travel required

(approximately 15%).

 

Merchandising Development Manager

The primary responsibilities of this position are to manage the development of product packaging, self-presentation materials and sales support materials, ensuring accuracy and establishing timelines for completion of projects.

Qualified candidates will possess a college degree in fashion merchandising or graphic design or related discipline required. A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant apparel industry work experience required. Previous management experience, 3-5 years. Well-developed computer skills (Excel, Word) required. Technical knowledge of CAD skills (PhotoShop, Flash, and Illustrator) required. Ability to manage and motivate associates; self-directed; deadline orientated with long and short-term projects; and maintain composure and productivity in stressful situations. Some travel required.
