ASTM Committee F23 on Protective Clothing was formed in 1977. F23 meets twice a year, usually in January and June, with approximately 75 members attending over two or three days of technical meetings. The Committee, with current membership of approximately 225, currently has jurisdiction of over 35 standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 11.03. These standards have and continue to play a preeminent role in the protective clothing industry and address issues relating to particulates, physical, chemical, biological, end items, human factors, use, and flame and thermal.
