FACULTY POSITIONS ANNOUNCEMENT:
Fashion and Textile Design
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and developing and
maintaining a quality research program in the area of either fashion design or textile design. Industry experience is preferred, with the desire to interact with leaders in the fashion and design community. Topics of particular interest to the program include:
- Fashion design, including flat pattern and draping
- Textile design, including surface embellishment, print, knit and woven design
- Visual communications including illustration, storyboarding, texture mapping, and portfolio
- Design fundamentals, aesthetics and creativity
- Computer–Aided-Design
- Design management
- Product development
- Color development
Faculty rank may be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, depending upon qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess an M.F.A. or earned Doctorate in textile design, apparel/fashion design, or closely aligned field.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE
The College of Textiles at North Carolina State University is a modern facility housing state
of the art research and prototyping labs. New labs and facilities continue to be added such as a fashion studio, digital design lab, body scanning, digital printing, knitting/weaving lab, color science lab, management science lab, filament extrusion, and nonwovens.

The Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management educates undergraduate and graduate students for careers in the fiber, textile, fashion, and retail complex. Degrees awarded include the BS degree in Fashion and Textile Management, BS degree in Textile Technology, the MS in Textiles and College-wide PhD’s in Fiber and Polymer Science and Textile Technology Management. Faculty in the Department are required to teach courses of study at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute substantially to research for the textile, fashion, retail, and allied industries.
