The College of Textiles at North Carolina State University, invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of the Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management. The Department presently has 600 BS and 47 Masters students and the faculty also chair about 40 PhD students in the College of Textiles’ doctoral programs. To be considered a candidate must possess an earned doctorate preferably in a field related to the department’s academic and research programs. Applicants should also have a record in teaching, research and service that would qualify for a full professorship. This includes: demonstrated excellence in teaching, distinguished accomplishment in research and publication, experience in technology transfer and interfacing with the public constituency. The ideal candidate would also have administrative experience in higher education, a demonstrated ability to attract external funding and a commitment to academic excellence.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the academic, administrative and fiscal activities of the Department. The Head will also be expected to provide focused leadership in: curriculum development; teaching excellence; assessment of academic programs and curricula; creation of a strategic research vision; interdisciplinary and inter-institutional collaboration, and fostering cultural diversity in students, faculty and staff.
