Head
Department of Textile Engineering,
Chemistry, & Science

The College of Textiles at North Carolina State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of the Department of Textile Engineering, Chemistry, & Science.  Working with the Deans of the College of Textiles and College of Engineering, the Department Head is directly responsible for academic, administrative and fiscal activities, in fulfilling the mission/vision of the Department and University.

The Department is currently home to 21 tenure-track faculty and to two academic programs (Textile Engineering and Polymer and Color Chemistry) that offer undergraduate and graduate degrees.  The Department is also directly involved in the College of Textiles doctoral degree programs in Fiber and Polymer Science and Textile Technology Management.  In addition, the Textile Protection and Comfort Center is directly housed in the Department.

The successful candidate must possess an earned Ph.D. degree in one of the disciplines represented in the Department, or a related field.  A proven record of excellence in teaching, research, and service in the context of higher education is expected.  Candidates must also be eligible for tenure at the Full Professor rank commensurate with criteria at North Carolina State University.
