WebCT Vista: Adding Media Files to the Media Library

  1. Login at http://vista.ncsu.edu/index.php
  2. In Build Mode, click on the "Media Library" link in the Course Tools menu on the left side of the page.
  3. Click on the "Create Collection" button in the top left corner of the page. (A collection may contain one multimedia file or several related multimedia files)
  4. Enter a "Title" and "Description" of for your collection and click the "Save" button.
  5. You will now be taken back to the "Media Library" page and will see a link to the (newly created) collection. Click on the link to your new collection.
  6. Click the "Create Entry" button. Enter a "Title" and "Description" describing your media clip. Then click the "Browse..." button to locate your media clip. In the "Get Files" window, click on the "My Computer" icon in the bottom left corner of the page to browse to the location of your file. Select your file and click "Open". You will now see a small window showing the progress of your upload. Once the upload is complete, click "Save" at the bottom of the "Create Entry" page.

You now need to make sure your "Media Library" is viewable to students. Look in the Course Tools menu on the left side of the page. If the Media Library link has an (H) beside it, it is hidden from student view.

To "unhide" your Media Library so that it is viewable to students, do the following:

  1. Click on the "Manage Course" link in the Designer Tools menu on the left side of the screen (beneath Course Tools).
  2. Click on the "course Menu" link and scroll down until you see the "Media Library" link and click the "Show Link" button to the right. Your "Media Library" will no longer have an (H) next to it in the Course Tools menu and will now be viewable to your students.

To see view your Media Library as a student, click on the "Student View" tab at the top of the screen and click on the "Media Library" link in the Course Tools menu.
