WebCT Vista: Replace Existing File with Updated Version
When you want to update a file to which you have made changes, here is the easiest way to upload the new file and overwrite the old one without having to delete, relink, etc.
- Login at http://vista.ncsu.edu/index.php
- In Build Mode, go to "File Manager" in the design tools menu on the left side of the page.
- Click on the "Get Files" button at the top of the page.
- Use the "My Computer" icon to browse to your (updated) file. Make sure the filename of the new file is exactly the same as the one you are replacing.
After the upload progress bar is completely filled, you will be warned that there is a "naming conflict" to resolve.
Click on the "Replace Existing" radio button and press "OK".
Your old file is now overwritten with the new version and if there is already a link to the file, it will now point to the updated version.
