Textiles Computer Labs

Library Computer Lab

The College of Textiles is proud to have a full 71 seat computer lab. It is open for COT students.

Computers in lab:

  • 35 Pentium 4 1.7Ghz w/ CDRW, DVD & Zip 250 drives
  • 18 Pentium 4 2.5Ghz w/ CDRW, DVD & Zip 250 drives
  • 18 Pentium III 866Mhz w/ CDRW & Zip 250 drives

Software in this Lab:

  • All the PCs have the standard UNITY setup
  • 67 of the computers run Windows 2000
  • 4 of the computers run Realm Linux

Library Satellite Lab (Rm. 4409)

This lab is an extension of the 4404 computer lab.

Computers in this lab:

  • 14 Pentium III 866Mhz w/ CDRW & Zip 250 drives

Software in this lab:

  • All the PCs have the standard UNITY setup
  • All of the computers run Windows 2000

Textiles Engineering Computer Lab

All TE's and graduate students working for TE faculty are allowed to use the room.

Textiles Digital Design Computer Lab

Textile Design students have access to a vast array of computing resources in this lab. Computers of all types (Macintosh, PC, Linux), digitizers, scanners, and printers are also supplied. The featured ENCAD digital Textile Printer is located in this lab.

This lab is focused on the application of Digital Design. Computers and manufacturing equipment of all types are used in this lab to produce state of the art manufacturing systems. These computers can be used by permission only within the Department of Textile & Apparel Technology & Management(TATM)

This lab contains:

  • 12 UNITY Computers
  • 1 Computer with Windows NT 4.0 for 3-D Body Scanning
  • 1 Computer with Windows 2000 to run a Stork Printer which is the top of the line high quality continuous print.
  • 1 Computer with Widnows 2000 to run a Stork Printer that is reactive dye
  • 1 Computer with Windows 2000 to run a Stork Printer that is acid dye
  • 1 Computer with Windows 2000 that runs Mona Digital Libary
  • 12 Computers with Windows 2000 that are the Design Stations
  • 1 Computer with Windows 2000 that is used for Vision for Textiles.
  • 3 Apple computers with 1 running Point Carre for Wovens and knit design
  • 4 Computers with Windows 2000 running Scotweave.
  • 1 Computer with Linux to run Sophis

Textiles Apparel Computer Lab

This lab is outfitted with the latest software and computers used in the Textile Apparel industry. This lab is used by students and faculty to develop new ways of improving the efficiency of the apparel industry. The Windows NT platform is also used here with scanners, printers and many other specialized equipment. This lab is available for Textile & Apparel Technology & Management students. Genevieve Garland maintains this lab.

This lab contains:

  • 9 Windows 2000 Workstations
  • Gerber Plotter
  • HP LaserJet 4
  • Espon Color Stylus Printer
  • HP Scanner
  • 1 Dos Computer that runs the Gerber Plotter
  • 1 Computer with WinNT that runs the Gerber Cutter

Special Software Packages in the lab:

  • Gerber Accumark
  • Gerber Silhouette 2000
  • U4ia
  • Micrographx
  • Adobe Illustrator

Color Design Lab

The color design lab is open to graduate students and post docs. Dr. Hinks maintains this lab.

This Lab contains:

  • 3 PC's
  • 1 Macintosh
  • 2 Silicon Graphics

Software in this Lab:

  • SheLyn INC software packages <for color measurments>
  • Datacolor International software package
  • LightSoft software package <for lightning measurements>

2104 Specialty Computer Lab

This lab consists of 20 computers that have custom Textiles software installed on them. Some of the software titles are Lectra, Accumark, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and the Macromedia suite.

This is TTM(Textile Technology Management) Doctoral Student Lab. Some of the research topics we are studying are Consumers & market, Database and information management, Operations research, strategic planning, and etc.

General Lab Rules

Use of University Computing Labs

General Rules

1. All those who use University facilities are expected to take proper care of the equipment. Any equipment malfunction should be immediately reported to staff on duty or to the organization responsible for the facility. Users of computing facilities may not move, repair, reconfigure, modify, or attach external devices to the computing systems. No food or drink is permitted in University computing facilities.

2. Recreational use of workstations in University computing labs during periods of light usage is permitted; however, no one may play games or engage in other recreational activities on workstations when others are waiting to use them for academic purposes.

3. Individual Computing Services (Unity) computing labs and other University-owned computing labs may post additional operational rules and restrictions, which must be filed with the University's Office of Legal Affairs. Users are responsible for reading and following these rules.
