Server Structure

The College of Textiles has two web servers. The development server has two main areas. The first area is dedicated to development. Faculty and Staff usually have a network drive labeled "V" that goes to this area. Once web pages are finalized, the web developer will email tx-web@ncsu.edu and ask for the content to be synchronized. Once this has been done the "live" area of this server is up to date.
The development server will then automatically synchronize itself with the main web server.

These synchronizations take place at: 2am, 10am, 2pm,4pm, and 7pm daily.

The main webserver also has a database that is used for dynamic content. Each database is backed
up to a file between 8pm and 8:30pm every night. These files are then copied back to the development
server at 9:00pm for redundancy.

Both servers are backed up everynight to DLT tape. A monthly backup tape is created and stored in a
fireproof safe.
