Leslie Spinney Hatch
Doctoral Student, Textile Technology Management
The past two years have been committed to completing the requirements for the Ph.D. program while working under the direction of Dr. Traci Lamar on a research project funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to improve hospital patient apparel. This work has been presented at the ITAA Annual Meeting in 2008, the AATCC International Conference in 2009, and the NCSU Graduate Student Symposiums in both 2008 and 2009.
I am focused on the international trade of textiles and apparel as well as the US’s global competitiveness through enhanced technology, innovation, trade, and education.
Prior to my Ph.D. work, I served as a Quality Assurance Engineer and the Manager of Textile Technology at The Warnaco Group, Inc and the Senior Textile Technologist at Victoria’s Secret. During my early career, I traveled to Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia to support product and process quality for a broad range of raw materials throughout the textile and apparel supply chain. I have consulted suppliers on social responsibility expectations and collaborated with cross functional teams from merchandising and design to purchasing and sourcing to procure the proper materials to support each brand and distribution channel. In 2006 I received the Individual Globe Award from Mast Industries, Inc.
