The Analytical Instrumentation & Services Lab is part of the Textile Engineering, Chemistry and Science Department at the College of Textiles.
This lab was primarily designed to expose and introduce undergraduate and graduate students to modern analytical equipment and techniques. It also functions as a facility that provides students with the capability of performing high quality analyses in support of their research.
As part of our services we offer tech service work to outside clients and private individuals for a competitive fee. We perform a number of wet chemistry tests as well as analyses utilizing analytical instrumentation. Please note that we are not a certified testing lab as our mission is on an educational basis rather than for profit. Due to university policy we are required to establish an Analysis & Testing Agreement (ATA) with each new client prior to any services performed. There is a one time initial set up fee of $200 for this contract, valid for 1 year. Information regarding testing can be obtained through Mrs. Andersen.
For an overview please view the range of available instrumentation below. Wet chemistry analyses like solvent extractions, fiber burn outs and other AATCC methods are not individually listed, but can be quoted upon request.
Out of courtesy to our diverse range of clients we do not offer any services related to reverse engineering.
The lab is under the supervision of the Department Head Dr. Keith Beck (919-515-6558) and managed by Mrs. Birgit Andersen (919-515-6590) who performs the analyses.
