Sonja Salmon
Sonja, long-time resident of Raleigh, North Carolina, majored in
Textile Chemistry (now Polymer and Color Chemistry). After
graduating in 1989 with her BS degree, she completed a
Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science at NCSU, with a minor in
biochemistry. Her strong interest in natural products led her to
work for a leading biotechnology company, Novozymes North
America (Franklinton, NC), where she is a research manager in
the enzyme Application Technology group.
Jacob Hooker
Born in Asheville, NC, Jacob entered NC State on a College of Textiles Scholarship. He earned a double major in Textile Chemistry and Chemistry in 2002 with a concentration in Polymer Science and was awarded a National Science Foundation Fellowship for graduate school. He is currently at the University of California, Berkeley working toward his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Jacob's research interests span chemistry, biology, and material science as evident in his current work with synthetically modified self-assembling viral capsids.
Carol Revels
Carol hails from Greensboro, NC,
and completed her BS in Textile Chemistry in 1986 and Masters in 1994. Her career in color science includes experience with Burlington Industries, Spartan Mills,
