    Biography:

    Dr. Kristin A. Thoney is an Associate Professor in the Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management. She grew up in Elmhurst, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Dr. Thoney received a B.S. in Mathematics in 1994 from Valparaiso University which is located in Indiana. She began her studies at North Carolina State University in August 1994. She graduated in 1997, with a M.Sc. in Operations Research.

    Dr. Thoney received her Ph.D. in 2000, co-majoring in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research. Her dissertation was entitled "Simultaneous Plant and Supply Chain Scheduling."  Dr. Thoney received 3rd Place in the 2001 Pritsker Doctoral Dissertation Award competition.  While a student, she was also a recipient of the United Technologies Graduate Teaching Fellowship, the E.J. Sierleja Fellowship for transportation research, and the NCSU Engineering Deans Fellowship. Dr. Thoney is a member of INFORMS, IIE, Omega Rho, Alpha Pi Mu, and Phi Kappa Phi.
