Research Interests:

Research interests are in the areas of thermal and fluid sciences applications to textiles, specifically infra-red and radio frequency heat treatments, thermal evaluation and testing of fire protective fabrics, textile pollution prevention, textile waste elimination/reduction, effects of textile products on indoor air quality, numerical simulation and modeling, finite differences resolution techniques, finite element analysis, fluidized beds and stability analysis of convective flow. Other areas include mechanics and formation of fibrous structures, principles of polymer engineering, instrumentation and control systems, monitoring and control of knitting equipment, and Textile applications in biomedical engineering.

Biography:

Hechmi Hamouda is a Professor,  Textile Engineering Program Director and a Registered Professional Engineer with the state of North Carolina. He obtained his Ph.D., in Mechanical Engineering, from State University of New York at Buffalo in September 1985. He earned a "Diplome d`Ingýnieur Principal" (M.S. & B.S.), in Mechanical Engineering, from the  Ecole Nationale d`Ingýnieurs de Tunis; Tunisia in July 1981.

He joined the College of Textiles in March 1996, after a Postdoctoral Research fellow with the Department of Energy at its Energy Technology Center in Morgantown, WV. He previously worked as a Graphics Programmer/Analyst with the University Computing Services at State University of New York at Buffalo and as a Base Head at El-Borma Oil Drilling base with the Tunisian Oil Drilling Company in 1982.
