TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY

The B.S. in Textile Technology ("Where Logic Meets Imagination") is designed to supplement young peoples’ education to become complete human beings and responsible citizens. The supplement is designed to give them knowledge and skills to be professionals in the fiber, textile and fiber based products industries.

These pieces of knowledge and skills become a critical part of their professional profile to help them be creative designers and developers of products made from fibers or fibrous materials, or become managers of activities in the industries that produce them.

The industries offering challenging opportunities to such professionals include, medical textiles, nonwovens, filtration products, ropes and cables, marine products, sports equipment, shoes and accessories, automotive, aerospace, military equipment, buildings and architecture, apparel, and so on.

The degree program includes requirements in basic sciences, courses in fibers as materials, courses in process technologies that help transform fibers into yarns and fabrics, courses in elements of design to that help the yarn and fabrics to meet the performance and aesthetic requirements, and focused set of courses called options that help give the student a deeper knowledge in medical textiles, nonwovens, textile design, etc. It is also possible to obtain a dual degree in the School of Design and College of Textile under the Anni Albers Scholars progam.
