The US textile and apparel industries have experienced a transformation of a historic proportion over the last 20 years, according to a new report published by The Textile and Apparel Business Intelligence Consortium (TABIC) at NC State College of Textiles. The report, by Peter Kilduff and Carl Priestland is entitled "Strategic Transformation in the US Textile and Apparel Industries: A study of Business Dynamics with Forecasts up to 2010". The report includes a review of economic and consumer dynamics in the US, developments in US textile and apparel retailing, the impact of technological change and the dynamics of global competition. The adjustment strategies and position of the US fiber, textile and apparel companies are analyzed, and strategic development priorities for the industries are identified. The report is based on extensive research, including interviews with many industry leaders. The work was sponsored by the North Carolina Textile Foundation. Further information about the report, including the Table of Contents and details of how to obtain a copy, is available at TABIC.
