Guidelines for Authors

The goal of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management is to disseminate reports on the latest research in the field of textile and apparel technology and management to a broad based audience of industry and academia. Textile and Apparel Technology and Management embraces all activities supporting:

  • the development of fibers and textiles,
  • apparel and fabricated products,
  • the technical, managerial and design technology decisions to produce these products.

JTATM will be composed of two parts, namely:

Part 1 - where all submissions will be refereed and will consist of Refereed papers.

Part 2 - where submissions will be reviewed by editorial board but not refereed. This will be comprised of Scholarly Works:

  • Research papers
  • Editorial comments, critical reviews of conferences and exhibitions.
  • Abstracts of research theses and publications.
  • Correspondence

JTATM seeks submissions for refereed articles. These should provide new understanding about the technology and management of fibers, textiles, manufacturers, retailers, as well as the environment and markets in which textile and apparel companies operate and evolve. Manuscripts that may be characterized as descriptive essays, depiction of current events or current business practices are unlikely to be accommodated in the Journal. Most articles reflect an extensive collection of field or experimental data coupled with the use of critical and analytical skills in their interpretation.

JTATM authors will demonstrate a solid knowledge of the literature in the field and rigorous logic. Increasingly, they will employ sophisticated techniques for examining data or mathematical models as a means to test or develop ideas. However, articles reflecting effective use of all research techniques are sought. The criterion is that such articles offer important new insight for theory, models, practice, or policy in textiles and apparel.

Authors considering publishing in JTATM are welcome to communicate with the Editorial Board about their ideas.

Submission of Manuscripts and Review Process

Authors wishing to be considered for publication in JTATM should send a copy to:

Submissions should be no longer than 10 pages (single-spaced), include an ABSTRACT, KEYWORDS (5 to 7), CONTACT INFORMATION, and be formatted according to the technical guidelines set out in guidelines for authors. A copy of materials submitted should be retained by the authors. Manuscripts will be initially over viewed by a screening committee to determine whether they broadly meet the requirements of the Journal. Those manuscripts meeting the requirements will be distributed to a panel of three external reviewers, who have been selected for their familiarity with the field. The identity of the reviewers will remain confidential but their comments may be relayed to the author(s).

In submitting a manuscript to JTATM, the author(s) will be required to vouch that the manuscript has not been published, is not accepted for publication, or is not currently under review for any other publication. The author(s) also agree that the manuscript will not be placed under review elsewhere while the review process for JTATM is ongoing. If a paper is accepted for publication in JTATM, the author(s) further agree not to withdraw it from JTATM for submission elsewhere.
