Welcomes Nancy B. Powell, Textile Designer Nancy Boiter Powell has joined the NCSU College of Textiles, Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management (TATM). She will provide leadership in the area of management of textile design and development, and will work closely with students and faculty in the Anni Albers program. Nancy has held positions as Design Director at major US textile companies in the past 25 years, including Miliken & Company, Guilford Mills, and Collins & Aikman.
Since earning her M.F.A in Fabric Design at the University of Georgia, Nancy has worked in the home furnishings upholstery market in design, and sales and marketing for LaFrance Industry and J.L.deBall-Girmes. Most recently, Nancy worked in the transportation upholstery field including automotive, aviation, and bus and rail products. Nancy also served as Director of Product Development for Langenthal Fabrics. Nancy has business experiences with knowledge of business activities in Asia, Latin America, and Europe. Nancy has taught at Concord International College in Shropshire, England, and served on industry advisory boards at several universities. She has served on the Board of the Computer Integrated Textile Design Association (CITDA). Currently, she is an Editorial Board member of the International Journal of Product Development and Innovation Management and the Journal of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management.
