JTATM seeks submissions for refereed articles.
These should provide new understanding about the technology and management
of fibers, textiles, manufacturers, retailers, as well as the environment
and markets in which textile and apparel companies operate and evolve.

TATM Graduate Corner
TATM offers postgraduate
education programs leading to Masters degrees, which are either thesis
based (MS) or non-thesis (MT). TATM faculty are also very actively involved
in Ph.D. programs in Textile Technology & Management and Fiber and

"Nonwoven Process Fundamentals"
Oct 20-24, 2003
Nonwoven Process Fundamentals is a new course jointly
produced by INDA and NCRC (Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center at
NCSU). The course is scheduled October 20 - 24, 2003 at INDA Headquarters,
Cary, North Carolina. Coursework includes instruction in chemical
and physical fundamentals of materials as well as hands-on experience
in web formation, bonding and testing fabrics at the NCRC state-of-the-art
facilities.
Course Learning Outcomes include:
* Describe the fundamentals of products and
processes used in Nonwoven Products.
*Explain the material-structure-property relationships
This course is designed for professionals involved in R&D, manufacturing,
product development, production, maintenance and plant operations
with a BS degree in engineering or textiles. For a complete brochue

"Characterization Methods For Nonwovens"
Jan13-17, 2003
Characterization Methods for Nonwovens is a new course
jointly produced by INDA and NCRC. The course is scheduled December
8-12, 2003 at INDA Headquarters, Cary, North Carolina. Characterization
methods for Nonwovens is an in-depth study of various characterization
methods usedfor evaluating nonwoven products, structures and performance.
Coursework includes instruction in engineering fundamentals as well
as hands-on lab work at the NCRC state-of-the-art facilities.
Cos Camelio, Technical Director, INDA, said, "The aim of this
course is to provide students the ability to see first-hand the application
of characterization methods with regard to hydroentangling, thermal
bonding, and needlepunching. Instructors will highlight the computational
methods and operational concerns/solutions of each process.
Course Learning Outcomes include:
* Describe characterization methods for nonwoven
fabrics.
* Describe the test methods for properties.
* Explain structural-property relationships in nonwovens.

Textile Off-campus Programing
(TOP)
The NC State University Textile Off-campus Programing
(TOP) program is a distance
education program designed to provide textile undergraduate and graduate courses
to any individual seeking an improved textiles education or background (credit
or audit). The present delivery system is predominantly video tape, but the
use of interactive CDs and on-line delivery will shortly be available for
a number of course offerings. Certification and master's degrees in textiles
can be obtained via TOP without a residence requirement.
