Graduate Student Poster Competition at the Industry Open House

The College of Textiles in conjunction with the Textile Association of Graduate Students (TAGS) held an Industry Open House on Wednesday, April 10, 2003. The graduate student poster competition, organized by TAGS was the first poster presentation of this kind in College of Textiles.

What is TAGS?

TAGS is the official graduate student council for the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University. It represents all textile graduate students in any matter, which may affect the academic and welfare of the graduate students of this college and provide a forum for discussion of problems and other matters of importance to the graduate students. TAGS is also responsible to disseminate information of interest or of importance to the graduate students and organize academic and social events. TAGS works hand in hand with the faculty and the staff to bring new projects, such as this Poster Competition.

Graduate Student Poster Competition

The 2003 poster Competition was a part of the College of Textiles Industry Open House. This competition was organized with the expectation of increasing the industry interaction with the research carried out at the College of Textiles. In addition, graduate student interface with the industry is an important component of the graduate education. Graduate students were able to present research work and gain experience in presenting to a larger audience of faculty, industrial representatives and students. Research questions from industry personnel that enhanced the research ideas and future research projects. This competition also allowed graduate students to talk with industry Personnel about employment opportunities.
