TAGS-Shaping the Future Textile Graduates

The Textile Association of Graduate Students (TAGS) at the College of Textiles held a Graduate Student Picnic on September 26th, 2003 and their annual dinner on October 30, 2003. Both activities were organized for the first time in the College of Textiles, and provided an opportunity for interaction between graduate students, faculty and staff.

Graduate Student Picnic

The Textile Association of Graduate Students (TAGS), which is the official Graduate Student Council for the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University, organized a picnic at Lake Wheeler, Raleigh, on Friday, September 26, 2003. Students as well as faculty members spared time from their busy schedules and enjoyed the evening.

TAGS Annual Dinner

On October 30th, 2003, TAGS held their annual dinner in the Atrium at the College of Textiles. Graduate students from different countries, had an opportunity to present their culinary skills by sharing foods representing their home country. Over 60 people attended and had the opportunity to relish different cuisines from various nationalities under one roof, which surely is a sign of unity in diversity. During the event, Dr. William Oxenham, Associate Dean for Academic Programs stated, “The association has been very active this year, and with their new website launched recently, TAGS has many plans ahead in organizing such events, which would bring faculty and students together.”

The next major event sponsord by TAGS will be Industry Day, April 2003. These events help textile graduate students improve their interactive skills and achieve academic excellence in their respective areas.
