The Textile Association of Graduate Students (TAGS) at the College of Textiles held a Graduate Student Picnic on September 26th, 2003 and their annual dinner on October 30, 2003. Both activities were organized for the first time in the College of Textiles, and provided an opportunity for interaction between graduate students, faculty and staff. Graduate Student Picnic The Textile Association of Graduate Students (TAGS), which is the official Graduate Student Council for the College of Textiles at North Carolina State University, organized a picnic at Lake Wheeler, Raleigh, on Friday, September 26, 2003. Students as well as faculty members spared time from their busy schedules and enjoyed the evening.
College of Textiles TAGS Student Picnic TAGS Annual Dinner On October 30th, 2003, TAGS held their annual dinner in the Atrium at the College of Textiles. Graduate students from different countries, had an opportunity to present their culinary skills by sharing foods representing their home country. Over 60 people attended and had the opportunity to relish different cuisines from various nationalities under one roof, which surely is a sign of unity in diversity. During the event, Dr. William Oxenham, Associate Dean for Academic Programs stated, “The association has been very active this year, and with their new website launched recently, TAGS has many plans ahead in organizing such events, which would bring faculty and students together.”
Tennis Tournament TAGS also conducted a tennis tournament for faculty, staff and graduate students of College of Textiles October - November, 2003. Results of the individual matches were posted on the TAGS website daily and prizes were awarded to the first three winners on the final day of the tournament. The next major event sponsord by TAGS will be Industry Day, April 2003. These events help textile graduate students improve their interactive skills and achieve academic excellence in their respective areas. |
