Sara Shuler, Senior, Textile and Apparel Management I had an internship Summer 2004 in London with British fashion designer, Madeleine Press and it was a wonderful experience. She was a partner of a successful label in the UK, but then decided she wanted her own line. The line is only three years old, and it is a better priced line for sophisticated urabanites. During my internship, I helped cut sample garments from patterns and merchandise the store floor. I also did stock takes and pick-and-pack orders, and organized files. In addition, I aassisted with quality control inspections for the new line of autumn/winter 2004 coats and other garments. During my internship, I had the opportunity to visit the factory which produced Burberry's coats and learned about design and production.
I
learned new ways to look at garment design, and I found new places to
look for inspiration. As a reward for my summer work, I was invited back
to work London Fashion Week September 19-26, 2004. At Fashion Week, I
assisted international buyers, merchandised the booth area, and was
put in
charge of the London Fashion Week-end Sale that takes place at the end
of Fashion Week. |
