Textile Off-campus Programing (TOP)

The NC State University Textile Off-campus Programing (TOP) program is a distance education program designed to provide textile undergraduate and graduate courses to any individual seeking an improved textiles education or background (credit or audit). The present delivery system is predominantly video tape, but the use of interactive CDs and on-line delivery will shortly be available for a number of course offerings. Certification and master's degrees in textiles can be obtained via TOP without a residence requirement.

TATM Graduate Corner

TATM offers postgraduate education programs leading to Masters degrees, which are either thesis based (MS) or non-thesis (MT). TATM faculty are also very actively involved in Ph.D. programs in Textile Technology & Management and Fiber and Polymer Science. The Fiber Society Announces Spring 2006 Conference

The Fiber Society and the Korean Fiber Society Announce Joint Conference


The Fiber Society and the Korean Fiber Society will conduct a joint conference on the subject of Extreme Textiles: Functionality, Performance, and Industrial Aspects. The conference will be held at the Engineer House at Seoul National University from May 30 to June 2, 2006.

Drawing from an international consortium of fiber and textile scientists and engineers, the scope of the conference will cover such topics as fiber and polymer materials; textile processing; dyeing and finishing; general subjects associated with the area of fiber, apparel, and textiles; and other related topics.

A Call for Papers is issued, with contributions anticipated and welcomed from all areas of fiber and textile science and engineering. The deadline for abstract submissions is December 31, 2005. To submit an abstract and for other details regarding the conference, access the website at www.fiber2006.org.

The Fiber Society was founded in 1941 and is incorporated as a nonprofit professional and scientific association, dedicated to the advancement of scientific knowledge pertaining to fibers, fiber-based products, and fibrous materials. The society is composed of members who are chemists, physicists, and engineers with interests in the field of fiber science engineering and technology.

The Korean Fiber Society (KFS) is one of the oldest academic societies in Korea. Established in 1963, its roots date back to 1945. Its membership consists largely of engineers, scientists, and technologists, working in academia, industry, and government. Each year, the society holds spring and fall technical conferences. It also publishes the official society journal Fibers and Polymers.
