NC State IFFTI Steering Committee

Conference Announcement and Call for Abstracts and Papers

The 2006 IFFTI Conference will be hosted by North Carolina State University’s College of Textiles on NCSU’s visionary Centennial Campus June 20 – 22, 2006. The Centennial Campus is unique among University environments; a model ‘technopolis’ integrating academic Colleges and Departments with leading firms conducting cutting edge research and development, often in collaboration with NCSU faculty.

NCSU’s College of Textiles is one of ten colleges comprising the academically diverse University. The University is the largest in North Carolina, with an enrollment of over 30,000 students and is a nationally recognized leader in science and technology. You can learn more about NC State University by visiting www.ncsu.edu

NCSU is located in Raleigh http://www.visitraleigh.com/, the capital city of North Carolina. Raleigh is home to the North Carolina Legislature, the Museum of Art, the Museum of Natural Science, and the Museum of History. Within a few minutes drive, nestled between Raleigh (NC State University), Durham (Duke University), and Chapel Hill (University of NC at Chapel Hill), is the world renowned Research Triangle Park. The Research Triangle Park has pioneered advances in many fields, especially electronics, computers, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, and medical research for the past 40 years.

The area is a major anchor for research and development for the Fashion and Textiles complex. The Textile Clothing Technology Corporation [TC]2 (www.tc2.com) and Cotton Incorporated (www.cottoninc.com) have their R&D headquarters in Cary, NC, a short distance from NC State. The AATCC (www.aatcc.org) and INDA (www.inda.org), industry associations that represent coloration and finishing, and nonwovens sectors are also located in Cary. Visits to these locations will be included in the Conference agenda.
