Announcement
The
Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management
is searching for faculty expertise to strengthen and
expand its programs in Product Design and Development.
The
College of Textiles at North Carolina State University
is a modern facility housing state of the art research
and prototyping labs. New labs and facilities continue
to be added such as nonwovens, digital design, body scanning,
digital printing, color science, 3D weaving, electrospinning,
fashion studio, filament extrusion, and management science
lab.
The
Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology and Management
educates undergraduate and graduate students for careers
in the fiber, textile, fashion, and retail complex. Degrees
awarded include the BS degree in Textile Technology,
BS degree in Textile and Apparel Management, MS in Textiles
and College-wide PhD’s in Fiber and Polymer Science
and Textile Technology Management. Faculty in the Department
are required to teach courses of study at both the undergraduate
and graduate levels and contribute substantially to research
for the textile, fashion, retail, and allied industries.
The
Department is searching for faculty with expertise in
the areas of “Product Design and Development.” Responsibilities
include providing teaching and research leadership and
promoting student learning in product design and development.
It is envisaged that the successful candidates will be
proficient in computer aided design, product lifecycle
management systems, and technologies that convert fibers
and polymer materials into products that meet the needs
of end uses and consumers worldwide. Successful candidates
will be able to demonstrate competence in a set of methodologies
that can match product attributes and business evaluation
criteria to the needs of the specific market. Candidates
should be able to communicate and work effectively with
faculty, students, laboratory equipment and staff, and
international/industry experience is preferable. Faculty
rank may be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor
level depending upon qualifications and experience.
Candidates
must have a relevant PhD from a recognized university
or equivalent terminal academic qualifications, demonstrated
teaching ability, and be able to prepare proposals and
attract research funds for independent scholarly research.

Textile Off-campus Programing (TOP)
The
NC State University Textile Off-campus Programing (TOP) program is a distance
education program designed to provide textile undergraduate
and graduate courses to any individual seeking an improved
textiles education or background (credit or audit).
The present delivery system is predominantly video
tape, but the use of interactive CDs and on-line delivery
will shortly be available for a number of course offerings.
Certification and master's degrees in textiles can
be obtained via TOP without a residence requirement.

TATM offers postgraduate education programs leading
to Masters degrees, which are either thesis based (MS)
or non-thesis (MT). TATM faculty are also very actively
involved in Ph.D. programs in Textile Technology & Management
