Partnering With Us
The college views education, research and outreach critical components of our mission. Outreach, economic development, engagement and extension are integrally coupled with our research and teaching. The College of Textiles was founded to support the textile industry and has a long and distinguished history of partnership with the textile industry in North Carolina, the region and the nation. We have become leaders in the creation of the "New World of Textiles." The College of Textiles continues to be a global leader in the basic and applied sciences, engineering, and technology transfer in our field. The college serves as an engine for economic development in a wide range of field related to the textile industry. The College is home to two academic departments, plus Textile Extension for Economic Development (TexED) and Extension Labs (TexLabs) as well as three major centers supporting our industrial partners: the Textile Protection and Comfort Center (T-PACC), the Nonwovens Cooperative Research Center (NCRC), and the ITT / NCSU Textile and Material Research Consortium.
The College of Textiles offers a remarkably diverse array of ongoing outreach and extension activities.
The partnership with the College can take many different forms.
1. Our extensive facilities offer capabilities in testing, analysis, fabrication and product development. The use of these facilities is governed by a simple agreement called "Testing Service Agreement". Our facilities become an extension of your capabilities - our experienced staff will help you innovate, and reduce your ideas to practice with state-of-the-art capabilities. A complete list of our capabilities are found at the links below.
2. Research and development activities beyond testing, analysis and fabrication can be undertaken by our faculty. The faculty's expertise is listed under their individual pages as well as groupings under key areas of expertise. These activities are governed by an agreement called "Sponsored Project Agreement". The faculty, students, and staff will work with you on addressing your specific needs in research and / or product development.
3. Faculty engagement can take the form of small research and development agreements as indicated above. Alternatively, you may engage the faculty and staff in consulting services. These agreements are executed with the individual faculty / staff; the faculty / staff will follow university established protocol in engaging in such services to ensure compliance with all State rules / regulations.
