Doing Business in MexicoSpring 2007NC State College of Textiles

On March 4-10, 2007 Dr. Nancy Cassill and William Harazin
of the School of
Textiles co-led the inaugural Student Delegation to Mexico
City and Puebla,
Mexico for the Export Ready Program in cooperation with the
Small Business
Center of Wake Technical College and the North Carolina Department
of
Commerce's International Division.
After interviews and selection process, six Textile students
were selected
to participate as student Delegates in order to introduce them
to
International Trade. The Student Delegates were Mary C. Gorman,
Silvia Kang,
Holli G. Nelson,
Elizabeth A. Newcomb, Tauva A. Montas Colon and
Sara Yasin.

The Delegates joined a Delegation of business people also
being introduced
to international trade. During the trip to Mexico the Delegates
attended
EXINTEX, an International Textile Trade Show, in which they
participated in
marketing North Carolina Textile products.
The Delegates also visited with US and Mexican business and
trade leaders
including the US Commercial Foreign Services officers, the
American Chamber
of Commerce officials, NC International Trade officials and
other business
executives involved in international trade. Tours of manufacturing
plants
including Volkswagen's state of the art facility in Puebla,
Mexico were a
part of the itinerary as well as cultural events including
the world renown
Folkloric Ballet and the Mexican Pyramids.
Upon return the Delegates had a hands on experience and better
understanding
of international trade.
