Abroad Testimonials
Florence, Italy - Fall 2007
Read about Daniella Wartner's experience in Florence.

- Spring Semester 2006

"It begins as a
mystery. Through foreign eyes you explore places filled
with a different culture, one that combines unfamiliar people
living
alongside unimaginable wildlife. To engage in new conversations
and
partake in local events brings forward a comfort that as travelers
forever
connects us to our place of study. The study is no longer a
mystery, but a
living memento that broadens our perceptions of all things
we once knew to
be definitive.”

Hong Kong - Spring and Summer 2006

"My name is Hien Phung, and I am
currently a senior at North Carolina State University majoring
in Textile Apparel Management
with a concentration in Brand Management and Marketing. My
family is Chinese; however, we are originally from Vietnam.
In my native country, Vietnam, I had the opportunity to learn
more than one language. I can fluently communicate in Cantonese,
Mandarin and Vietnamese which makes me well suited to study
in the Asian region. Participating in the Hong Kong Study Abroad
Program provided me with the knowledge to enter the international
market and better prepared for my future career. Studying in
Hong Kong Polytechnic University expanded my global vision
and provided me with a deeper knowledge of the Asian culture.
Not only did I have the opportunity to study abroad in Hong
Kong and learn about the culture, I was also fortunate enough
to have the chance to hold an internship with an American textile
company, International Textile Group (ITG), in their Hong Kong
office. I was assigned three international textile management
projects for my eight weeks internship with ITG. These projects
include Market Analysis (define the market structure and dynamics
for the barrier business in Asia), Labor Compliance (issues
that related to workers’ right in Vietnam and China),
and Supply Chain City & Mega Garment Production. The three
projects were not only my major related, but also gave me the
real world experience with the textile industry.
The study abroad and international internship experience were
so enriching that I would not be able to gain at elsewhere
if I did not choose to participate in the Study Abroad Program.
Being able to fuse the American culture into other culture
and see the world differently, I am confident to say that the
decision I have made to study abroad and pursue an international
internship have prepared me well enough to pursue my future
career."
