Global Supply Chain Management
Fellows Program

3 Continents – 3 Semesters
A Global Experience

Master of Textiles Degree
College of Textiles
North Carolina State University

The goal of the Global Supply Chain Management Fellows program is to educate students at the master’s level on the design and management of global textile supply chains.  This program is a joint offering among Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Industries Textiles (ENSAIT), and North Carolina State University (NCSU).

Program Description
Approximately four fellows from each institution will be admitted to the program each year.  Students must meet all the requirements for the graduate degree program for which they are admitted.  Upon completion, students will receive a degree from the intuition from which they were admitted and a certificate from all three programs indicating completion of the Global Supply Chain Fellows program. Students admitted by NCSU will receive the non thesis Master of Textiles degree.

The fellows program consists of 36 credits.  Each semester students will take two core courses, one global supply chain management course, and one elective course.  The proposed core subjects are in the areas of general supply chain management, information technology, global business, merchandising, quality management and textile technology.  In addition to core subjects, each institution also offers a global perspectives course in which students will meet textile executives and visit the textiles and apparel companies in the hosting country. Students will conduct research about the textile supply chain in the region.

Each institution also offers elective courses. These elective courses cover a wide-spectrum of specialized topics related to supply chain management, fashion, and textiles.  A list of approved electives will be provided to students.

The program begins in the fall semester with students attending HKPU and continues in the spring semester with students attending ENSAIT.  Arrangements for attending these institutions are coordinated with the study abroad office.  Students may continue their travel during the summer or work at an industrial internship.  In the third semester students attend the College of Textiles at NCSU.

Employment opportunities for graduates of this program include:  sourcing, logistics, operations management, and product development.
Admissions
Students must follow the admissions requirements for the Master of Textiles degree that is offered by NCSU College of Textiles.  Students must apply early spring to meet all the VISA requirements for starting the program in the fall.

Study Abroad
Assistance with arrangements for studying at HKPU and ENSAIT is provided by the NCSU Study abroad office.  Credit hours earned while abroad are applied to the NCSU degree.

Expenses
Students are registered each semester at NCSU.  Through cooperative arrangements with the international institutions student tuition is at the NCSU rate.  Students are responsible for their own room, board, and travel expenses.
