Anyone interested in learning more about the exciting NEW WORLD OF TEXTILES is invited to attend the 2009 College of Textiles Open House on Saturday, February 7th from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  The College of Textiles, located on NC State University’s world-renowned Centennial Campus, is home to the most modern textile classrooms and laboratories in the world.
During the open house you will have the opportunity to tour our state-of-the-art labs and attend demonstrations of the most recent, cutting-edge research being conducted in the fields of Textile Engineering, Polymer & Color Chemistry, Textile Technology, Fashion & Textile Design, and Fashion & Textile Management.  Our world class faculty will be showcasing their latest advancements in fashion design and production, brand management and marketing, fabric design, polymer and color science, textiles in forensics, product engineering, information systems engineering, medical textiles, nanotechnology, technical textiles, supply chain management, and many others.

Pyroman

A demonstration of Pyroman, a favorite for attendees, will also take place.  Pyroman is a mannequin with heat sensors used to test the latest in fire protective apparel used by fire fighters, armed services personnel, and race car drivers.

Throughout the Open House event, College of Textiles’ faculty, staff, and students will be available to answer questions regarding our undergraduate and graduate textile degree programs, including our Anni Albers dual degree program and the new pre-Health Concentration within our Polymer and Color Chemistry degree program.  Additionally, information sessions will be conducted for students to learn more about the admissions process, scholarship and career opportunities, and pre-college summer programs for high school students.
