| Minor(s): Textile Technology |
| Expected Graduation Date: May, 2010 |
|
| Objectives/Post Graduation Plans: My objective is to work in an industry or academic laboratory, conducting research in the field of Textiles, polymers, or chemistry. I will bring my skills and knowledge gained from my coursework and research here at North Carolina State University and from my summer internship at Cotton Inc., and apply it to new tasks while conducting experiments. As an Institute of Textile Technology Fellow I have also gained leadership experience which I will use to benefit a team in the industry setting.

| Durable Nanolayer Graft Polymerization of Textiles Finishes: Waterproof and Antibacterial Breathable Fabrics |
|
| Research Summary | |
| The purpose of this research project is to determine if plasma can be used to induce a free radical graft polymerization on the surface of a cotton polyester blend fabric. The resulting nanolayer should be both fluid resistant and antimicrobial. The nanolayer should only be present on one side of the fabric, allowing free flow of moisture through the other side. |
